Today I did some demo's on why days are hot and nights are cold, and why summers are hot and winters are cold. The kids had lots of fantastic questions!
Grade 6
Math: The students who scored less than 30/48 on the Ratio, Percent and Proportion test have a re-test tomorrow. They have two sheets to study from for this. They should have brought their tests home for signing. Any student can do the re-test if they want to bring their mark up.
We continued with angles today: measuring, classifying, naming.
Science: The 6S's got their unit test back today and are bringing it home for signing. We ran out of time in 6R to get these back because we had DPA. They'll be bringing their's home tomorrow.
We are starting on parachute design.

Science 5W
Today we did a whole whack of notes on forms of precipitation (the kids weren't too impressed!). Ask them the difference between sleet, snow and hail.
Grade 6
Math: The students got their Ratio, Proportion and Percent tests back today. They need to bring them home to get them signed (5 marks). Students that scored less than 30/48 have to do a retest on Wednesday. I gave them a retest review sheet to study from. It is the test they just got back with the answer key. The retest will be exactly the same format, with different numbers.
Today we worked on measuring angles with protractors.
Science: The students wrote their unit tests today. They will be bringing them home tomorrow to get signed.

We finished up our Comparing Cities sheets, took the weather readings, and started notes on Precipitation. No homework.
Some students haven't brought their Binder Completion/Organization check sheet back signed yet.

Grade 6
In math the students tried the "Horse and Rider" puzzle. The hardest 3 piece puzzle ever! Some of them are bringing it home for you to try. We also got a start on measuring angles. As usual at the end of the school year we're in a time crunch, so we will be boogying (sp?) for the next few weeks.
6R and 6S both have their Air and Aerodynamics unit test on Monday in science, and need to hand in their two review sheets. The 6S test was originally scheduled for today, but was postponed. Some of the students have started on their Flight unit title page. It will probably be due the Monday after next.

Science 5W
Today we did a line graph of the temperature over the previous 24 hours. We are continuing to record daily weather data such as temperature, wind speed and direction, cloud type etc.
Grade 6 Math and Science
Math: 6R and 6S both have a unit test tomorrow (Thursday) on ratio, proportion and percent.
Science: Our Air and Aerodynamics unit test is comming up. 6S is writing it on Friday, and 6R is writing it on Monday. The students have review sheets

Science 5W
We started recording various weather measurements today. We will be going outside and measuring and recording the temperature, wind speed, wind direction and cloud type every day. We are getting other data of the internet such as barometric pressure and relative humidity.
Grade 6 Computer Animation
We are continuing with our animated comic strip project using Paint, Pivot, and Mozilla Composer. The students should be done scene 2 by Friday. If they aren't, they have been told they need to start coming in at lunch and/or after school to get caught up.
Grade 6
The students wrote their Math Provincial Achievement Test - Part A today. Tomorrow they write their Language Arts Part A. Their homework is to get a good sleep and have a good breakfast!
In math we are starting to review our unit on Ratio, Proportion and Percent. The test will be next week.
In science we have been experimenting with paper airplanes. We are just starting on components of air.
